PlayStation started off the year 2024 with its first State of Play event, delivering over 40 minutes of updates on games that will be available on PS5. Sony promised extended previews of Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, but we also had a few surprises in store. Read on to find out everything that was announced at today’s live State of Play. Death Stranding 2 Officially Titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Kojima Productions showcased a lengthy trailer for Death Stranding 2, which is now officially titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Norman Reedus returns as Sam Porter Bridges, who will face off against a new group called Drawbridge. We saw a long sequence where a potential villain used a hybrid guitar-chainsaw tool, shooting lightning bolts. This is just one of the many events in the game DS2. We will also see Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, Troy Baker, and many others in prominent roles.
Rise of the Ronin – A Deeper Look at the Game from Team Ninja
Rise of the Ronin will release on March 22, and Team Ninja gave us the best look yet at this upcoming action game. They also showcased the game’s world in Yokohama, one-on-one sword combat with a parrying system, and much more.
Until Dawn Remastered Coming to PS5 and PC Later This Year
The rumors were true – Until Dawn Remastered will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC later in 2024. We saw enhanced graphics in the remaster’s trailer.
Stellar Blade – New Information and Release Date
We were presented with an introduction to the game Stellar Blade, an action game from developer Shift Up and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment. We learned that the game will be released on April 26, 2024. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, where a mysterious enemy has forced humans to flee to a colony. The main protagonist, Eve, along with companions Adam and Lily, will fight against mechanical enemies and hostile survivors. Eve will utilize firearms and a sword in stylish combat.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Another Trailer from Capcom
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will also be released on March 22, and Capcom shared another trailer for the highly anticipated sequel.
Sonic x Shadow Generations – Announcement
SEGA unveiled Sonic x Shadow Generations, which seems to be an enhanced remaster of Sonic Generations with new content featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. The trailer showcased the same levels we saw in the original Sonic Generations from 2011, as well as new levels where Shadow takes center stage. The game will be released on both current and next-generation consoles in the fall of 2024.
Silent Hill: The Short Message – Releases Today
Konami presented Silent Hill: The Short Message – a free spin-off of Silent Hill, which will be available today. Konami also shared a new trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake project, but no release date was provided.
JUDAS – New Trailer
JUDAS is another game from Ken Levine, the creator of BioShock, with similarities to his previous works. A full trailer for JUDAS was showcased during today’s State of Play, depicting a colorful, dystopian first-person combat game.
V Rising – Coming to PlayStation 5 in 2024
V Rising, the popular game “Dave the Diver” from 2023, will have its premiere on PlayStation 5 in April this year. Furthermore, we learned that Godzilla will appear in the game “Dave the Diver” in May 2024.
Zenless Zone Zero – Game in Production for PlayStation 5
Zenless Zone Zero is the latest game from Hoyoverse, currently in production for PlayStation 5.
Legendary Tales – New Game for PlayStation VR 2
Legendary Tales is a new game for the PlayStation VR 2 system from Urban Wolf Games. In a first-person perspective gameplay, players will battle using magic, swords, hammers, bows, and arrows in a fantastic world.
Foamstars – New Trailer Before Release
Foamstars, a competitive shooter game, will be available on PlayStation Plus next week. Square Enix shared a new trailer showcasing new characters that will appear in the game.
Helldivers 2 – Trailer
State of Play kicked off with a short trailer for Helldivers 2. It gives us a glimpse of the multiplayer shooting action before its release on February 8.
