1) More Interactive Mobile Phones
Internet and mobile phones were introduced in GTA 4 for the first time. However, in the game, mobile phones were only used for calling or messaging friends and other contacts. This changed in Grand Theft Auto 5, where mobile phones could be used to access the internet, opening up the possibility for many other features.
In the next game, mobile phones should resemble their real-life counterparts more closely. There could be new applications with different functions, such as television or mini-games. Rockstar could draw inspiration from GTA RP, as most RP servers use realistically designed smartphones with modern layouts.
2) Snapmatic Posts and Videos
The GTA 6 trailer showed some strange but funny moments based on real viral incidents in Florida. Most of them were shown using a version of Instagram or TikTok created by Rockstar. Rockstar Games already has a parody of Instagram called Snapmatic, but it had limited functionality in GTA 5.
In Grand Theft Auto 6, the developer could add the ability to post and share videos on Snapmatic, allowing players to create their own movies and share them. This could be dynamic as other people in the game world would react to player posts on social media, even in a limited way. It could even be introduced in GTA 6 Online, where players would send their posts and videos to a social media platform accessible to other players.
3) Active Social Media
GTA games in the HD universe have various social media platforms based on real-life platforms. These include Lifeinvader, based on Facebook; Snapmatic, based on Instagram; and Bleeter, based on Twitter. There were also certain dating sites like Love Meet and Hush Smush.
These social media platforms need to be refreshed in Grand Theft Auto 6 and should play an active role in missions and story changes. They should also be interactive, so that platforms like Lifeinvader provide regular updates. Rockstar could take inspiration from the Spider-Man series by Insomniac, which adds social media features to make the world feel more alive.
4) Live Streaming
If Rockstar adds the ability to post photos on Snapmatic or other social media platforms, there should also be an option for live streaming. This could be achieved through missions or introduced as a gameplay feature that players can use at their discretion. Another way to introduce live streaming could be in GTA 6 Online, similar to videos and posts.
5) Dating
It’s about time Rockstar brought back dating in Grand Theft Auto. This feature was first introduced in GTA San Andreas, where CJ could go on dates with multiple girlfriends. It was also reintroduced in Grand Theft Auto 4, where players could use the internet for dating. This feature could be restored in the next game through the virtual internet. Some fans may find this introduction of a dating feature strange because the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, are in a relationship. In that case, Rockstar could add this feature to the multiplayer version to give the Online Version of the character more depth.
