New IDScan.net Application Enables Retailers to Accept Mobile ID Documents with iPhone

2024-02-09

IDScan.net, a leading identity verification provider, now allows retailers to use the VeriScan mobile app for iOS to accept mobile ID documents in Apple Wallet and other standard mobile ID documents during in-store purchases, all with just their iPhone. Terry Slattery, CEO of IDScan.net, announced that the company is “very pleased to enable retailers to easily and securely accept mobile ID documents during in-store purchases – without the need for additional hardware.”

The VeriScan app for iOS is already available in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, and Maryland. IDScan.net promises secure and private verification of mobile ID documents and a simplified age verification process for retailers who download and sign up for the VeriScan app on their iPhone. Once the identification verification process is initiated, it can be verified using contactless transfer or a QR code.

Customers can review, check, and consent to sharing their information before the encryption of the verification process. The system ensures that no unnecessary data is shared, and no documents or devices are exchanged between individuals. Only the minimal amount of data necessary for age or identity verification is disclosed. Transaction information is not stored by IDScan.net, Apple, or retailers using the VeriScan app.

IDScan.net recently promoted its Executive Vice President, Jim Burke, to the position of President in anticipation of a year of rapid growth and expansion. The company is still dealing with a lawsuit alleging a violation of the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) in Illinois. The case was transferred from state court to federal court in April 2023.
