Nokia i Dell Technologies ogłaszają strategiczne partnerstwo w celu rozwoju sieci 5G

Nokia and Dell Technologies have announced a strategic partnership aimed at developing 5G networks and advanced cloud solutions for a wider range of customers.

According to a joint statement from both companies, Dell will provide its infrastructure, such as cloud servers and test laboratories, while Nokia will be responsible for delivering wireless network connectivity.

Dennis Hoffman, Vice President and Business Director of Telecom Systems at Dell Technologies, expressed his views on the partnership instead of quoting:

“As part of our collaboration, Nokia and Dell Technologies will leverage the knowledge and expanded distribution of each company to easily and quickly scale modern telecommunications networks and utilize their capabilities for private 5G applications. With ten years of experience in digital transformation, we are ready to collaborate with Nokia’s customers to continue their journey towards cloud on the highest-rated computer sales platform.”

As a result of the partnership, Dell will provide Nokia with the necessary infrastructure for deploying telecommunications services in the cloud. Customers of Nokia AirFrame will be migrated to Dell PowerEdge servers, capable of handling telecommunications tasks “from the core to the edge to the base station”.

Nokia AirFrame is an open edge server that enables the handling of cloud-based software tasks.

On the other hand, Nokia will provide connectivity solutions for the partnership. Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) will be integrated with Dell NativeEdge to deliver required services to Dell’s business customers. NDAC will be chosen as the “preferred” wireless communication platform for private networks.

Nishant Batra, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer at Nokia, elaborated on the partnership, stating:

“This strategic partnership will make both companies more flexible and better equipped to meet the future needs of customers. Dell’s understanding of digital transformation and its global scale, services, and support will provide Nokia’s customers with an excellent option to migrate to Dell PowerEdge servers, while Nokia’s rich experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining efficient public and private cellular networks will provide Dell’s customers with a comprehensive and scalable solution for private wireless networks. In line with our technology strategy, our continued collaboration with Dell will help meet the future needs of our customers arising from growing network requirements and deliver solutions that assist telecommunications service providers in scaling modern cloud networks.”

The strategic partnership will also require Dell to provide its Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab to Nokia for application testing and research on network functions to be offered. Additionally, both companies will continue to collaborate on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partnerships and certification of tasks on Dell’s telecommunications infrastructure blocks in line with Nokia’s cloud services.
