Xiaomi Watch 2: A New Smartwatch on the Horizon

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its latest smartwatch, the Xiaomi Watch 2, according to a recent listing in European retail stores. While it shares a similar design to the previously released Watch 2 Pro, there is one noticeable difference – the absence of a rotating dial.

This upcoming wearable will be powered by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC and will run on Wear OS. The pricing details provided in the retail listings range from €199.99 to €219.99, possibly varying according to different regions.

Although the official launch date has not yet been announced, a live listing has given us a preview of what to expect. The Xiaomi Watch 2 will be available in two color variants: black and silver. Unlike its Pro variant, which features a rotating bezel for navigation, the Watch 2 will have a sleek interface with touch controls.

The specifications listed for the new smartwatch are almost identical to those of the Watch 2 Pro. It will sport a 1.43-inch AMOLED display enclosed in an aluminum alloy body. While the Pro model is made from titanium, the standard Watch 2 opts for a more affordable build material. It will also come with the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 SoC and an unspecified version of Wear OS out of the box. With a 65-hour battery life, this wearable ensures long-lasting usage for its users.

In terms of features, the Xiaomi Watch 2 will offer Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, 5ATM water resistance, sleep tracking, heart rate measurement, and blood oxygen monitoring. It will also come pre-installed with essential Google apps such as Google Wallet, Play Store, and Google Maps.

Given the new retail listing, we can expect Xiaomi to announce the launch of the Watch 2 sooner rather than later. The company has an upcoming global launch event scheduled for February 25, where they will introduce their Xiaomi 14 series to a wider audience beyond China. During this event, we may witness the unveiling of the Xiaomi Watch 2, along with the Pro variant, as they expand their reach in the smartwatch market.
