Samsung R&D Institute Bengaluru (SRI-B) has launched the Samsung Innovation Campus program at the KLE Institute of Technology (KLEIT), Hubli, aimed at equipping youth with essential skills in future tech domains. This collaboration with KLEIT is in line with Samsung’s commitment to the Indian government’s Skill India initiative and its vision of #PoweringDigitalIndia.
Under this program, students and faculty members at KLEIT will receive advanced technology training and work on projects related to Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Coding & Programming, and Data Science. The objective is to make the students industry-ready and prepare them to meet the demands of the ever-evolving tech industry. By integrating the latest technology, basic software skills, and emerging capabilities, the program aims to nurture well-rounded professionals.
In addition to empowering students, the Samsung Innovation Campus also focuses on faculty development through mentorship from SRI-B. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing faculty members with valuable insights and helping them develop technical skills required by the industry.
Mohan Rao Goli, the Chief Technology Officer of SRI-B, highlighted the significance of the Samsung Innovation Campus in empowering the youth and trainers, stating that it will enhance research and development capabilities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, and IoT. He emphasized that this collaboration will foster innovative solutions to real-life problems.
Professor Ashok Shettar, Vice-Chancellor of KLE Technological University, expressed optimism about the partnership with Samsung and its contribution to India’s advancement in critical new technology fields. He believes that the Innovation Centre will enable students to gain valuable insights into industry challenges and develop the necessary technical skills to tackle them effectively.
As part of the initiative, SRI-B plans to upskill approximately 100 students and professors annually at KLEIT. The institute is already working with four engineering colleges across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, benefiting over 500 students. Additionally, Samsung has established eight Innovation Labs in prominent Indian institutes to train more than 1,000 students.
By providing students with the necessary tools and skills in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science, Samsung aims to bridge the skills gap and create opportunities for growth in the job market. The Samsung Innovation Campus serves as a platform for students and faculty members to collaborate with SRI-B experts and gain hands-on experience in solving real-world challenges using cutting-edge technologies.
