Ryan Walsh, the company’s escalations management lead, had served in the State Department. And Greg Andersen, currently the Feature Policy Manager at TikTok, was involved in psychological operations for NATO.
What’s even more intriguing is that TikTok’s recruitment strategy extends beyond former government officials. Beau Patteson, who advises the platform on extremist threats, previously worked as a targeting analyst at the CIA. This raises questions about TikTok’s potential allegiances and motives.
TikTok has also actively collaborated with the US government. In 2022, the platform deleted over 320,000 accounts spreading pro-Russian messages and warned against Russian state-controlled media. This biased approach favors Western narratives promoted by Washington.
