Wielogodzinna awaria internetu na wschodnim wybrzeżu Karoliny Północnej i Outer Banks

On Friday, government offices, schools, and businesses on the eastern coast of North Carolina and the Outer Banks experienced a multi-hour internet outage affecting customers of Brightspeed and Lumen.

According to Brightspeed, the outage occurred during a routine infrastructure update and impacted the eastern part of North Carolina.

The outage started around 10:15 AM and affected both DSL and fiber optic services for both residential and commercial customers.

Locally, users on the Hatteras and Ocracoke islands reported internet access issues throughout the day, affecting both Verizon and Brightspeed customers.

While most individual customers only experienced a brief interruption, businesses remained offline until at least 2:00 PM.

Reports of the outage mentioned its impact on several 911 alarm centers from Currituck to Greenville, phone outages in schools and government offices, and the inability of pharmacies to process prescriptions due to the loss of internet service.

“We quickly identified the problem and deployed teams to fix it,” stated Brightspeed. “We have restored service and all customers are back online.”
