General Motors zgadza się zatrudnić byłego dyrektora ds. baterii Tesli na nowego wiceprezesa do spraw baterii

General Motors (GM) has announced that it has hired battery expert Kurt Kelty, the former director of Tesla’s battery team, as its Vice President of Battery Operations. This is a completely new role for GM, and Kelty will make his debut at the company on February 19.

GM’s decision to hire Kelty comes at a time when the company is facing challenges in increasing battery pack production for its new Ultium platform, which will power their future generation of electric vehicles.

“The foundation that GM has established, along with Kelty’s exceptional knowledge of batteries in terms of their chemical development, partnership building, supply chain creation, and close collaboration with battery system development teams, will help us achieve our electrification goals while positioning GM as a leader in electric vehicle technology,” said GM CEO Mark Reuss.

Kelty previously worked as the head of Tesla’s battery team for over a decade. His experience also includes working with Panasonic, Tesla’s partner in battery development at the “Gigafactory” in Nevada.

Most recently, Kelty served as the Vice President of Commercialization at Sila Nanotechnologies, a company founded by former Tesla employee Gene Berdichevsky. The company focuses on developing silicon-based anodes that can significantly increase the energy density of lithium-ion batteries.
