Death Stranding 2: Zbiórka na plaży

In yesterday’s announcements by Hideo Kojima, we finally have new details about Death Stranding 2, including the release date and a series of story details. We also have a subtitle: Beach Assembly.

During the first State of Play presentation in 2024, Kojima Productions unveiled a brand new trailer for Death Stranding 2: Beach Assembly. The trailer features Norman Reedus, where we get to see his armory while taking a tour of a ship. His character, Sam Bridges, works for a civil organization called Drawbridge, which has a “generous patron.” Sam sets out once again to unite the world and introduce new areas into the network, carrying a peculiar doll by his side (which moves at a lower frame rate than the rest of the game). The trailer showcases various diverse environments, suggesting that this will be a much more ambitious production than the previous game.

“You contributed to the unification of America, you helped create the UCA, but I’m afraid Death Stranding still remains. Humanity is still threatened, still on the brink of extinction,” says the narrator.

During gameplay, we also get to see a robot-samurai character resembling Sting, wielding an electric guitar-like welding tool. Yes, this is a game by Hideo Kojima. We also learn about the fate of BB-28, and many characters make a return, including the ominous Higgs.

Before today’s trailer, with little information about Death Stranding 2, we only knew when the game was announced at The Game Awards 2022. Kojima later revealed that he had to rewrite the script for Death Stranding 2 because he “no longer wanted to predict the future.” This week has been exciting for Death Stranding fans. In addition to today’s information about Death Stranding 2, yesterday Kojima Productions released the Death Stranding: Director’s Collection on Apple devices, including the iPhone 15 Pro. The developer also collaborated with Backbone to release a limited edition Backbone One controller to commemorate the port’s release.

Death Stranding is no longer just a game. In December 2022, it was announced that a film based on the first installment of Death Stranding is in development. Last year, it was announced that A24, in collaboration with Kojima Productions, is working on adapting the game for the big screen. In addition to Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima and his studio are also working on a new project called OD. This announcement took place at The Game Awards 2023 and is a collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. The first trailer revealed that Jordan Peele and actress Hunter Schafer are involved in the project. Death Stranding 2 was part of the PlayStation State of Play stream, which also included presentations for games like Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, and many others.
