Spec Ops: The Line zostaje usunięte ze Steam

Spec Ops: The Line, one of the most important games of the seventh generation of consoles, has now become slightly more difficult to play on PC. The acclaimed military shooter has been removed from Steam without warning, although it is still available on other PC online stores and on Xbox, where it is backward compatible.

The removal was first noticed by Wario64, who brought attention to it on Twitter. If you visit The Line’s page on Steam, you can no longer purchase the game and will see a message stating, “Spec Ops: The Line is no longer available on the Steam store.” While it’s not uncommon for games to be removed from Steam, it’s worth noting that Spec Ops: The Line has received critical acclaim and holds historical significance. Its infamous white phosphorus scene still often appears in discussions about memorable (though horrible) moments in games, and The Line contributed to the arrival of a new, more critical era of video games based on contemporary conflict.

In our review, we wrote that “Spec Ops is a bold experiment that is worth celebrating. For the first time, a game with guns does not want you to be a hero – it wants you to feel horrible trying to be one.” And it remains a game that is worth playing. It’s a shame that, for now at least, players cannot buy it from one of the world’s biggest stores, but fortunately, it can still be experienced on other platforms.

IGN reached out to 2K regarding the removal. We will update this story if we receive a response.
