The Thrill of Music Hunting: From The Smiths to Morrissey

In this small shop, the owner nervously paced around, asking customers if they were looking for something or just browsing. The room was cramped, with boxes cluttering the space even more. You could stand anywhere and have a perfect view of everything, but the owner didn’t want to take any chances. He claimed a spot opposite and anxiously looked around, knowing that his fleeting shopping experience might not last long.

I entered this store in search of musical gems. When he asked me what I was looking for, I replied that I was particularly interested in The Smiths, Morrissey, or maybe Nick Cave. In response, I was informed that The Smiths were not available, but they might have something from Morrissey.

The owner immediately set to work. With hope and impatience written in my eyes, he swiftly maneuvered around the boxes, knowing where his tangible treasures were located. At times, he shuffled through the records with multiple simultaneous movements, determined to uncover treasures for true fans. Finding two albums was partially successful, but unfortunately, it turned out that I already had them. My fascinated gaze at the shy vocalist from Manchester gave away that these acquisitions were foreign editions, not something I could buy in bulk here in Poland.

Although the search didn’t turn out as fruitful as I had hoped, it was an adventure for me. In that small shop amidst the crowded boxes, I felt a thrill of excitement and the euphoria of the thought that I might find something special. That’s the magic of music hunting – you never know where you’ll find your long sought-after record.
