Bloodborne Kart Release Delayed and Name Change

The release of the game Bloodborne Kart has been delayed, and it will also undergo a name change. Developer Lilith Walther stated that the team needs to “get rid of the brand” from the game, which is causing the delay. The game was originally scheduled to be released on January 31 for PC. While this turn of events is not surprising, it does mean that the game will have a slightly different shape than originally planned.

Bloodborne Kart, a retro-styled racing game that started out as a meme, has garnered widespread support from fans who have been eagerly awaiting new content related to Bloodborne. In response to the latest development, many jokingly commented that the entire saga forced Sony, which owns the rights to the Bloodborne franchise, to accept the game’s title for the first time in years. Walther previously released a free “demake” of Bloodborne in the style of a PlayStation 1 game.

“So Sony reached out to us,” Walther wrote in a Friday update. “Long story short, we have to get rid of the brand from what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart. We will do that, but it requires a short delay. Don’t worry, the game will still be released! It will just look a bit different.”

Originally, the game was set to feature 12 players stylized as well-known characters from Bloodborne, such as the Hunter and the Doll from the Hunter’s Dream. The game was also intended to include both single-player and multiplayer modes, as well as 16 maps and boss fights, allowing players to race against characters like Father Gascoigne. It’s a shame that the original vision can’t be realized because it looked fantastic, but I’m confident that the developers can transform it into something equally amazing.

There is currently no new release date announced, but we can all revisit the Bloodborne Kart trailer and dream about what we almost had.
