The creator of the game formerly known as Bloodborne Kart has announced plans to delay the game’s release and “remove the brand” after receiving contact from Sony regarding copyright infringement related to the use of the Bloodborne trademark.
Today, Lilith Walker, known as PSX Bunlith (@b0tster) on X/Twitter, published a thread explaining that Sony reached out to her, resulting in the need to adjust the upcoming racing game to remove any elements that could infringe on copyrights.
Walker seems to be taking these changes with a smile on her face. In her thread, she added that “we all expected this, so we can be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t happen” and that a release delay will be necessary, but she is excited about transforming this fan-made game into an original one, giving the team “full creative control.”
Composer Evelyn Lark also joined the discussion, expressing her excitement about working on the “original (though familiar) soundtrack.”
Bloodborne Kart, now simply called “Kart” since it can no longer be associated with the Bloodborne brand, was originally planned to be released on January 31, 2024. The game, first revealed in 2022, transformed from a community meme into a PS1-style racing game featuring characters, cars, and environments directly inspired by Bloodborne. The game is expected to include 12 drivers, 16 maps, boss fights, a campaign, a battle mode, and local multiplayer split-screen gameplay.
It is currently unknown when we will be able to play Not-Bloodborne Kart, but in the meantime, you can play Bloodborne PSX, which is a de-make of the game in PS1 style, created by the same team.
