Nexon ogłasza zamknięcie swojego średniowiecznego brawlera Warhaven

Nexon has announced the closure of its game Warhaven, a medieval fantasy brawler, on April 5th, 2024. The game, which debuted on the Steam platform in “Early Access” version just 6 months ago, did not meet expectations and did not gain much popularity.

Warhaven, described as a “brutal, visual fantasy combat experience” for teams of 16 players who were tasked with fighting each other using swords, arrows, and magic, received mixed reviews and had a small player base.

Nexon, the game’s developer, did not provide exact reasons for the closure. However, an announcement confirming this decision appeared on the Warhaven Steam page. Nexon expressed gratitude for the love and support that players showed to Warhaven.

User reviews on Steam indicate issues with balance, server problems, and slow gameplay as reasons why some players do not recommend the game. Nonetheless, there are also positive opinions among players who emphasize the game’s smooth mechanics, incredible visuals, and diverse characters and game modes.

Since its release, the number of players has steadily declined. After reaching a peak of 10,456 users on the Steam platform during its launch, the player count gradually dropped, and currently, the average number of users within 24 hours is only 171, according to data from SteamDB. Such a low player count is, of course, a significant problem in a game that requires 32 players to provide a full gaming experience.

The decision to close Warhaven is another case of a game’s failure in the market. The computer gaming industry is incredibly competitive, and players’ demands and expectations are constantly increasing. Despite Nexon’s efforts, Warhaven did not meet those requirements and did not gain a large fan base.
