Apple rozpoczęło wypłacanie odszkodowań dla użytkowników iPhone’ów w ramach ugody w sprawie powolnej pracy starszych modeli telefonów

Apple has started paying compensation to iPhone users who were part of a class-action lawsuit in 2020 regarding the slowdown of older models of iPhones. In 2020, the tech giant agreed to pay up to $500 million to settle the case, which accused Apple of intentionally slowing down older iPhone models through software updates to encourage customers to purchase newer models. Apple denied these allegations and did not admit guilt.

The payouts from the “battergate” settlement began this month, according to multiple media reports. According to MacRumors, some payouts reached as high as $92.17. The settlement website states that payments will be made on a “rolling basis” and will conclude by the end of January.

The eligible phones under the settlement include iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, and/or SE that used iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017, or iPhone 7 or 7 Plus that ran on iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017. The deadline for filing claims was in October 2020.

More information about the settlement can be found on the settlement website.
