Korg prezentuje nowe DIY zestawy: NTS-1 mk2 i NTS-3 Kaoss Pad

Korg introduced the DIY Nu:Tekt line of kits to the market in 2019 with the NTS-1 model. It was an affordable device based on the programmable digital oscillator from the Prologue and Minilogue XD. Over the years, several other products have been added to the line, including an oscilloscope and headphone amplifiers. At the NAMM 2024 trade show, the company introduced an improved version of the original, the NTS-1 mk2, and additionally enriched the lineup with the NTS-3 Kaoss Pad model.

NTS-1 mk2 is the same in terms of size and shape as the original, available as a DIY kit without the need for soldering. It features a single monophonic digital oscillator based on LogueSDK. However, the similarities end there. Inside, there is a new, more powerful processor that drives the updated SDK version, which includes new types of oscillators and effects, as well as the ability to use incoming audio as a modulation source. The ribbon keyboard has been replaced by an 18-key capacitive keyboard with multitouch function, which is much more intuitive to play. Korg has also added an eight-step sequencer, MIDI output, and implemented a USB-C connector for power.

NTS-1 mk2 seems to be a solid improvement on the incredibly versatile miniature synthesizer, but it is the NTS-3 that brings something truly new to the table. It is also available as a DIY kit without soldering, which Korg claims can be assembled in less than 20 minutes. Once assembled, you will have an authentic Kaoss Pad with 35 built-in effects, an expressive X/Y pad for controlling them, and a looper. And of course, since it is also based on the LogueSDK platform, you can also load your own effects or design your own. You can even use up to four effects simultaneously, and the “latch” function allows for individual control.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about either of these devices. There will be a library available for managing custom oscillators and effects, although no release date has been given yet. Similarly, we don’t know the price of either of these devices. We only know that NTS-1 mk2 is expected to be available on the market in April, and NTS-3 in June.
