Will Apple Vision Pro Have Dedicated Apps for Streaming Platforms?

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset, will not have dedicated apps for popular streaming platforms. A spokesperson from Spotify confirmed that the company does not plan to create a new app for Vision Pro, nor do they intend to enable their existing app to function on the device. The same applies to YouTube, which will also not offer a native app for Apple Vision Pro. Instead, users will have to use the Safari browser to access the YouTube platform on the device.

According to data from MacStories, none of the top 46 apps available on the App Store will have a dedicated visionOS app at launch. This means that users will have to rely on existing iPhone and iPad apps that will offer support for Apple Vision Pro. However, the lack of dedicated apps so close to the device’s release date is not a good sign and may make the headset less appealing to users who expect to use it as a personal multimedia player.

Nevertheless, Apple Vision Pro will support several popular streaming platforms, such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, and Paramount Plus. However, the absence of dedicated apps for giants like Netflix and YouTube may be disappointing for potential users.

Representatives from Google and Spotify have not yet commented on this matter.
