Rockstar is looking towards the future as it begins to “push the limits” on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, starting with the removal of Rockstar Editor from those versions of Grand Theft Auto Online. The creator of Grand Theft Auto announced its plans to move towards the future on its website. It was stated that while Rockstar Editor will survive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, players on older consoles will lose access to it starting from February 20, 2024. The removal of the editor is part of the “necessary steps” that Rockstar is taking to ensure that GTA Online add-ons will still be introduced on PS4 and Xbox One. “This update will help ensure the stability of these platforms and keep them updated with new GTA Online add-ons for as long as possible,” says Rockstar. Clips and projects created on these platforms will be deleted after the removal of Rockstar Editor next month. Users interested in saving or exporting their projects can find instructions on the Rockstar support website. Today’s update is not only bad news, as the post also promises additional news for GTA Online players this week, including double rewards and discounts on vehicles until January 24. GTA Online has been thriving for about a decade, so it makes sense for Rockstar to take new steps towards the future while still supporting their existing fans. Part of these plans, of course, is the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6, which was officially announced late last year. Online for this new open world within the studio’s series is still a mystery, although we may have some speculations thanks to T-Pain.
