Apple is gearing up for the release of its long-awaited Vision Pro headset in the United States, and as the release date approaches, new data leaks and information about the XR headset are surfacing. According to reports from MacRumors, the Apple Vision Pro may be launched with 16 GB of memory, and there are indications that the memory capacity could even reach 1 TB. These discoveries were made during code exploration using Apple’s Xcode developer environment.
During the exploration, references to the Vision Pro with 16 GB of unified memory were found, similar to what Apple included in the Vision Pro developer kits. While the starting price of the headset, which is $3,499 and includes 256 GB of memory, was mentioned in the press release, higher capacities were only suggested. Further investigations within Xcode suggest that a 1 TB option may be available, aligning with the capacities observed in the developer kits.
Apple is expected to officially confirm the full configuration options on January 19th, the day of pre-orders opening. The Vision Pro headset will be introduced to the US market on February 2nd, with plans to expand availability to other countries later this year.
Initially, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated shipments of 800,000 to 1,200,000 units of the Vision Pro headset in 2024, but later revised the estimate to below 500,000 units.
