Twitch wprowadza ulepszenia: większa jakość transmisji i automatyczna konfiguracja

Twitch, the popular streaming platform, is preparing to introduce new solutions aimed at improving the quality of streams. Collaborating with NVIDIA and the OBS program, Twitch is introducing the Enhanced Broadcasting feature, which will allow users to stream their gameplay in a greater variety of quality modes.

Until now, watching streams on computers with stable internet connections didn’t pose any significant problems. However, on mobile devices, where data transmission is done through cellular networks, users often had to settle for lower resolution streams. Twitch automatically created streams of different qualities, but mainly for popular channels. Less popular creators usually only had access to one streaming quality. This issue is set to be resolved with the Enhanced Broadcasting feature.

Thanks to the NVENC encoder, supported by the latest GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX graphics cards, content creators will be able to stream their gameplay in multiple simultaneous resolutions. The new feature will primarily work on the streamer’s side rather than the server, allowing even less popular creators to provide their gameplay in modes tailored to the devices on which viewers watch the streams.

In addition to the new feature, other enhancements such as higher bitrate streaming, 4K resolution support, the ability to handle five concurrent streams, and new codecs, including AV1, will be tested. The AV1 codec offers up to 40% better performance than the currently popular H.264 and HEVC codecs, but it is only available on GeForce RTX 4000 series graphics cards.

Alongside the Enhanced Broadcasting feature, Twitch will also introduce automatic configuration of the OBS program, adapting it to the streamer’s hardware configuration and internet connection. This is a significant convenience for individuals who wish to start streaming but lack knowledge about transmission and codecs.

Beta tests for the new feature are already available to registered users on the Twitch website.
