Nowa wieża telekomunikacyjna dostarcza zasięg 5G dla rezerwatu wojskowego na Hawajach

Verizon recently partnered with the United States Army to improve wireless network coverage and telecommunications services at the Helemano Military Reserve (HMR) in Hawaii. As part of the $1 million project, a new cell tower called the “Dragon Tower” was built in HMR, providing 5G coverage for military families, personnel, and visitors.

The main objective of this collaboration is to enhance the quality of life for those stationed at the base. Marta Lacroix, Vice President of Network Engineering at Verizon, emphasizes that the strength of their network is essential to ensure continuous access to emergency services and seamless communication with loved ones.

Located approximately five miles north of Wahiawa, HMR provides housing for around 2,000 military service members and their families. However, due to its remote location, the reserve has had connectivity issues in the past. The presence of the Dragon Tower and 5G coverage aims to solve this problem and provide reliable communication for the military community.

Lieutenant Colonel Izabella Lundy, Commander of the 307th Signal Exploration Battalion – Reinforced, highlights the importance of this infrastructure for soldiers and their families. The telecommunication tower will enable reliable access to emergency services, facilitate communication, and support daily operations.

The Dragon Tower is located at the Exchange HMR Express Army and Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) store in the heart of the reserve. This tower is part of a larger Exchange initiative, which includes a total of 13 new or under-construction telecommunication towers throughout USAG Hawaii. These efforts will expand connectivity and reliability for military communities in the region.

To commemorate this milestone, a ceremony was held, attended by important representatives such as Brigadier General Kevin Meisler, Lieutenant Colonel Izabella Lundy, and representatives from Verizon and the Exchange.

The collaboration between Verizon and the United States Army demonstrates a commitment to improving telecommunications infrastructure and providing soldiers and their families with access to essential services and reliable communication channels.
