Google Removes Car Mode from Maps

Google has made the decision to remove one of the interesting features from its Maps. Car Mode, which never fully arrived in Poland, will disappear from the application in February 2024, as reported by 9to5Google.

Car Mode

Car Mode in Google Maps works similarly to Android Auto, focusing on displaying maps in full-screen mode. Additionally, it offers large icons that enable convenient use of basic phone functions such as answering calls or controlling the media player. This minimizes the risk of driver distraction.

Google Maps users will no longer have access to this feature starting from February 2024. Instead, they will be instructed that the best way to use the phone while driving is to use the voice assistant. With it, they can make calls, send messages, or change songs without having to take their eyes off the road.

Why was Car Mode not available in Poland?

Car Mode in Google Maps was never fully introduced in Poland, although it was sometimes available in test versions. It was only available in ten countries such as Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, India, Mexico, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Google did not provide the reasons for its decision to withdraw this practical feature.
