Key Multiplayer Features to be Discontinued

In the latest announcement from developer FromSoftware, it has been revealed that the game servers for Dark Souls II and Armored Core: Verdict Day will be shut down on March 31, 2024. This means that players will lose access to the multiplayer features of these games.

FromSoftware explains that the decision was made due to “the degradation of game servers,” which means that certain elements of Dark Souls II and Armored Core: Verdict Day will no longer be available. In Dark Souls II, players will lose access to features such as shades, bloodstains, messages, co-op play, invasions, and duels. However, the single-player mode will still be possible.

The closure of the servers also affects achievements in these games. Fortunately, Dark Souls II does not have any achievements that are only available online, so players do not have to worry about missing out on them. On the other hand, some achievements in Armored Core: Verdict Day will no longer be accessible after the servers are shut down. A total of 23 achievements will be discontinued, making it necessary for players who want to earn the full 1,000G to act before the server closure.

Dark Souls II and Armored Core: Verdict Day are exclusively available on Xbox 360 and are not backward compatible. Therefore, players will need an Xbox 360 console to enjoy these games.

While the closure of the servers may be disappointing, it is worth noting that the gaming industry is constantly evolving, and maintaining online servers for older titles may become increasingly difficult. Nevertheless, it is always disappointing for players who have enjoyed the multiplayer features of these games to see them come to an end.

In related news, several Ubisoft Xbox 360 game servers have recently been temporarily restored. Additionally, in January, the closure of four Xbox servers is planned, which will impact various games. Stay tuned for more updates on server closures and discontinued achievements.
