Year 2023 brought many controversial games that were rated as the worst by Metacritic. Among them, there were famous titles that disappointed fans worldwide. The main leader of the list is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which only gathered 33% positive reviews. The release of this game was a true disaster, leading to Daedalic Entertainment giving up on further video game development.
Following positions include other not-so-successful productions. Flashback 2 received only 35% positive reviews, while Greyhill Incident slightly more with 38%. Quantum Error scored 40%, and Testament: The Order of High-Human achieved 41%. Crime Boss: Rockay City received 43% ratings, while Gangs of Sherwood slightly more with 47%. Further down the list, we find Hellboy: Web of Wyrd with 48%, Loop8: Summer of Gods with 49%, and Gargoyles Remastered also with 49%.
All of these games faced negative reviews and failed to meet players’ expectations. It seems that 2023 was not the best year for the video game industry. I hope that future releases will prove to be significantly better and provide us with more satisfaction.
