Touch ‘n Go eWallet Introduces Face ID and Touch ID Authorization

Touch ‘n Go eWallet has reintroduced Face ID and Touch ID authorization after more than a year-long hiatus, making payments more convenient and secure. This new feature eliminates the need to enter a six-digit PIN to confirm QR payments in public places, providing a faster and safer method.

The previous version of Touch ‘n Go eWallet offered facial recognition for payments, but did not utilize Apple’s Face ID technology. The feature was removed after the app was temporarily suspended on the AppStore. Earlier this year, the biometric security feature was reintroduced, but only for app login and not for payments.

Currently, Touch ‘n Go eWallet is gradually rolling out the facial authorization feature, starting with selected users. Qualifying users will find the new Security Authorization option in their profile settings. For payments, users can choose between device biometric authorization or entering their six-digit PIN.

The biometric method works for DuitNow QR payments and topping up the Enhanced Touch ‘n Go card using NFC. Users simply need to use their face to confirm the payment, offering a faster and more secure alternative to entering a PIN in public places. In case of Face ID failure, users can still confirm the payment using their six-digit PIN.

Additionally, Touch ‘n Go eWallet has introduced PassKey as another security measure. Instead of using a password, users can log in using Face ID or Touch ID. PassKey, a secure login method developed by the FIDO Alliance and World Wide Web Consortium, securely stores unique user authentication data on devices, protecting them along with their biometrics. Currently, the PassKey feature is limited to iPhones running on iOS 16 and newer.

To create a PassKey, users can go to their profile, select Security Authorization, tap Passkey, and choose “Create PassKey.” PassKey can be saved in iCloud Keychain for easy access. In case of losing or failure of the PassKey, users can always log in using their six-digit PIN.

With these new features, Touch ‘n Go eWallet aims to provide a more convenient and secure payment experience for its users. The gradual rollout ensures smooth integration and wide availability of biometric authorization and PassKey.
