Nexus Mods odrzuca mody Pokémon dla Palworld z obawy przed działaniami prawno-prawnymi ze strony Nintendo

Nexus Mods, the popular modding platform, has decided not to host Pokémon mods for the highly successful game Palworld due to potential legal actions from Nintendo. In an interview with PCGamesN, Mathew Elliott, a representative from the Nexus Mods community, stated that the platform is “uncomfortable” with hosting Pokémon mods for Palworld, but will allow other modifications for the game.

Nexus Mods’ decision stems from concerns about possible legal actions from Nintendo, explained Elliott. “As you may know, Nintendo (who co-owns the Pokémon franchise) has a consistent record of ruthless legal challenges, DMCA takedowns, and content blocking against fan-made creations,” Elliott noted.

“Given the similarities between Palworld and the Pokémon franchise as the main game, sharing content that adds protected characters or legal resources would undoubtedly expose us to legal risks,” he added. “We do not believe it is worth risking having such content shared within our community. At best, we would have to deal with the issues of removal notices sent by Nintendo, and at worst, they could take action against us and the mod creators directly.”

“There are many creative possibilities to explore through modifications for this game, which add to the world and gameplay without blatantly infringing on existing intellectual property rights. We are really excited to see what surprises the Palworld modding community will come up with.”

While Palworld has already become one of the biggest game releases of all time, it has also been one of the most controversial. The Pocketpair team claimed to have received death threats related to accusations of “copying” Pokémon, and Nintendo quickly responded by removing a spectacular Pokémon mod, although the mod creator still plans to release it for free. IGN’s Early Access review of Palworld gave it an 8/10 rating, stating, “Palworld may draw heavily from Pokémon’s homework, but its deep survival system and playful approach make it hard to put down—even in Early Access.”

This is just the beginning for Palworld, but Nexus Mods already offers several modifications, including the most popular ones that allow players to customize gameplay, improve visuals, and unlock the entire map. Yes, there is even a PlayStation button mod available.
