Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Receives Record-Breaking Pre-Orders in India

Samsung Electronics has achieved a significant milestone in India’s smartphone market with the pre-launch success of its latest Galaxy S24 series. The company reported an impressive 250,000 pre-orders for the new devices, solidifying its position in the second-largest smartphone market in the world.

In just three days of reservations opening on January 18, Samsung secured an unprecedented number of pre-bookings for the Galaxy S24 series. Comparatively, it took three weeks to achieve the same volume of pre-orders for the previous Galaxy S23 series. This success highlights the Indian consumers’ enthusiasm and eagerness to adopt new technology.

Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President at Samsung India, expressed gratitude towards consumers for their overwhelming response and emphasized the popularity of the Galaxy S24 series among Indian buyers. India has become a crucial battleground for smartphone manufacturers, particularly in the premium segment. In the fourth quarter of last year, the country registered 38.9 million smartphone shipments, witnessing a remarkable 20 percent year-over-year growth.

Samsung’s dominance in the Indian market has been evident since the fourth quarter of 2022 when it surpassed Chinese brands like Xiaomi. In a strategic move to further strengthen its commitment to India, Samsung began manufacturing premium handsets, including the Galaxy Fold 5 and Flip 5, at its Noida factory. This decision has significantly reduced delivery times for Indian customers. Additionally, Samsung has expanded its retail presence with the opening of the Samsung BKC experience-centered retail outlet in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, alongside Apple’s first Indian retail store.

The Samsung BKC store offers a wide range of products, including televisions, gaming monitors, mobile devices, and accessories. Park Jong-bum, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, highlighted the store’s focus on providing unique experiences for customers, particularly Gen Z and Millennials who seek premium offerings. The store showcases eight unique zones that encompass various AI experiences, aiming to excite consumers across different segments.

While Apple is growing its presence in India’s premium smartphone market, its market share still remains relatively small, accounting for only six percent in the first half of last year. Samsung’s record-breaking pre-orders for the Galaxy S24 series solidify its position and indicate the strong demand for the brand in India’s competitive smartphone landscape.
