The larger cells retain the same series group (5 cells in a row for 18V/20V batteries), while increasing capacity and available power that can be delivered to the tool.

The biggest obstacle to achieving the full performance of these cells is electrical resistance. To get more power, the current needs to be increased. In traditional connections, higher electrical resistance can generate dangerous levels of heat when a large current flows through them. – The test of a 6 1/2-inch circular saw using the 4Ah High Performance Edge battery showed a reduction in cutting time from 19.4 seconds (4Ah battery) to 12.0 seconds.
– The test of a 12-inch chainsaw using the 4Ah High Performance Edge battery showed a reduction in cutting time from 25.15 seconds (4Ah battery) to 19.81 seconds.
– The test of a 1/2-inch impact drill driver operating at high speed with the 4Ah High Performance Edge battery showed a reduction in drilling time from 12.67 seconds (4Ah battery) to 7.92 seconds.
