Blackview BV8900 Pro: A Rugged Smartphone for the Outdoors

At first glance, the BV8900 Pro resembles many other Blackview smartphones that I have tested and reviewed. It is a robust smartphone surrounded by black rubber, with a screen covered by tempered glass. The rubber and 10,000 mAh battery add weight to the device, but the battery provides about 13 hours of video playback time and over a month of standby mode. This smartphone is a true tough guy.

The device is designed to be dropped and roughed up. Water, dirt, dust, mud, high/low temperatures are no obstacles for it. The device even has a lanyard loop, so you won’t lose it in the jungle or during a storm on the water.

This smartphone is a true survivor. It also features reverse charging, so you can use it as a power bank and send power to other devices.

The Helio P90 chip keeps this smartphone in excellent condition, and its power is sufficient to keep everything running smoothly without draining the battery. I had no issues with delays or freezing while using this smartphone, which has 8 GB of RAM supported by an additional 8 GB of virtual RAM.

The impact resistance and the rubberized exterior can cause the processor to overheat and limit its performance. However, the cooling system, composed of silicone and graphene radiators, as well as a series of copper cooling pipes, keeps the processor at an adequately low temperature even under heavy loads.

The BV8900 Pro also supports UWB (ultra-wideband), although the current Android system has limited support for this technology. However, I anticipate that this situation will change in the coming months when Google introduces its competition for the Find My Apple network, and UWB location devices for Android, similar to AirTags, are released.

To facilitate the use of this feature, the BV8900 Pro also includes a special UWB sticker that can be attached to keys, pets, or anything else we want to keep an eye on.

The Blackview BV8900 Pro is available for $216, making it an affordable way to get a solid smartphone with a massive battery and built-in UWB, making it future-proof. It is an excellent phone built to survive.
