Nowe baterie stałe są rewolucją dla samochodów elektrycznych

The latest advancements in battery technology may solve important problems related to charging time and frequency for electric vehicles. NIO, a Chinese automotive company, has announced the introduction of new and improved batteries that could bring significant improvements to electric vehicles.

In early 2021, NIO unveiled its latest electric vehicles, including the ET7 sedan. The luxury car is equipped with a 150 kWh solid-state battery from Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology.

WeLion has announced plans to start mass production of solid-state batteries for NIO in April 2024, emphasizing that it will be a gradual process. Solid-state batteries are praised for being “non-flammable, lightweight, and having high energy density.” While this technology is not new, the widespread use of solid-state batteries from WeLion and NIO could be revolutionary.

Research shows that the ET7 car with the solid-state battery from WeLion can travel approximately 650 miles without the need for charging, still leaving 3% of battery energy after the range test. In comparison, the currently most popular electric car, Tesla Model Y, can travel about 310 miles before needing to charge.

Utilizing WeLion’s solid-state batteries promises less frequent charging and extended driving range. The widespread adoption of this technology may encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles.

According to Bloomberg, the average range of electric car batteries in the USA has quadrupled since 2011. The average range in electric cars sold in 2022 was 291 miles. Combined with the new battery technology, concerns about range are starting to fade.

Solid-state batteries – safe, lightweight, and durable – are a step in the right direction. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and other car manufacturers are working on developing and integrating solid-state batteries into their vehicles, promising a future of more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation.

Many enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the possibilities of semi-solid and solid-state batteries. “Fast charging is a real revolution,” one user on the Electrek portal stated. Another commented, “This is just the beginning.” “Real solid-state batteries will completely transform everything within the next decade.”
