First 256GB DDR5 RAM Kits to Appear

The DDR5 RAM standard made its way into households at the end of 2021, bringing many innovations such as higher clock speeds and greater performance. Now, we are witnessing another significant change. The previous limit of 128GB RAM, which was recently increased to 196GB, will soon reach another level – 256GB. This information comes from GIGABYTE.

Initially, information about the 256GB RAM kits (4x 64GB) came from MSI and ASRock, who showcased this achievement using the new Kingston Fury Renegade modules and the AMD platform. However, GIGABYTE has confirmed that this amount of RAM will also be available for Intel processors.

The company has presented program screenshots showing the Intel Core i9-14900K + GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Master X and the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D + GIGABYTE B650 AORUS Elite AX kits, which will support 256GB RAM. It has also been announced that BIOS updates will be released for many of the manufacturer’s motherboards in the coming weeks.

It is projected that RAM module manufacturers will announce their 2x 64GB and 4x 64GB kits at CES 2024, which should become available for sale shortly after their premiere.
