Awowed is an upcoming RPG game developed by the renowned Obsidian Entertainment, known for their titles such as Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds. During today’s Developer_Direct event, the company provided us with a wealth of detailed information about this highly anticipated game, confirming that its release will take place in the fall. This is fantastic news for all fans of open-world role-playing games, including those who enjoyed The Elder Scrolls and The Outer Worlds, as well as fans of the Pillars of Eternity series, whose world returns in Awowed.
The game’s most significant feature lies in its ability to explore the Living Lands region, known from previous Pillars of Eternity installments but significantly expanded and enhanced. During the presentation, we also learned about an intriguing combat system that allows players to seamlessly switch between spells, melee combat, and ranged combat. Awowed offers a wide selection of fighting styles, including the option to wield two wands or dual-wield pistols.
In battles, players can make strategic use of their abilities. As suggested by Obsidian Entertainment, we can freeze enemies with spells and then deliver a crushing blow, shattering them into pieces. The game is abundant with diverse enemies that possess shields and heavy armor, making them challenging to defeat. However, through the creative utilization of our skills, we can find effective ways to overcome these opponents.
During the Developer_Direct presentation, we were also treated to glimpses of quests and dialogues taking place in various locations within the Living Lands region. These landscapes are remarkably diverse, ranging from lush jungles to rocky deserts. The world of Awowed has been described as a “land of wild weather, strange creatures, and hundreds of inaccessible valleys that conceal secrets never before noticed by mortals.”
Awowed will debut on the Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC in the fall, granting us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of the Living Lands. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, fans of the fantasy genre can already anticipate an extraordinary adventure that is sure to exceed their expectations.
