Sonnengeküsste Stadt: A Vibrant Urban Life Simulator Coming Soon

Arthur ‘Mr. Podunkian’ Lee, the creator who previously collaborated with ConcernedApe on Stardew Valley, has announced the release period for his upcoming life simulator.

Sonnengeküsste Stadt will be released on PC via Steam in the fourth quarter of 2024, followed by a console version.

Lee has been sharing videos of the entire development process of the game on social media, giving players a glimpse of what to expect.

“Welcome to a new life in Apollo City, a sunny coastal metropolis pulsating with wild energy and eccentric characters,” states the Steam page.

“As a newly hired employee of the Peco Pioneer program, a monolithic company named Pico, you are tasked with building relationships within the vibrant community of Apollo and spreading awareness about Pico’s eco-friendly initiatives.

“But not everything is fine on the bustling streets. The local wildlife has become increasingly aggressive, the waters lifeless, monsters are pouring out of the sewers, and not to mention the constant migraines that have been affecting everyone lately,” the description continues.

And thus begins another life simulator, heavily inspired by Stardew Valley, but this time in an urban setting.

The game appears to be more influenced by 90s anime and reminiscent of Earthbound, especially evident in the cycling mechanics.

Of course, players can customize their bicycles…

“I’ve already shown bike accessories, and now there’s a bike basket you can attach. It provides some storage space. If you collect an item near your bike and your inventory is full, it will automatically go into the basket! (I’m still working on the game’s title, sorry!)” tweeted Arthur ‘Mr. Podunkian’ Lee (@MrPodunkian).

…run an urban farm…

“I’ve spent a lot of time catching up this week, but I’m happy to say that I finally have at least one year of growing seasons in the game, so I don’t have to worry about missing out on crops while playing my own game!” tweeted Arthur ‘Mr. Podunkian’ Lee (@MrPodunkian).

…and encounter peculiar mushroom characters.

Regarding Erica ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, he is working on the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley, as well as its spiritual successor, Haunted Chocolatier.
