Przegląd futerału Apple Vision Pro Travel Case: znacznie większy, niż nam się wydaje

One of the accessories that did not come with the Apple Vision Pro kit is the impractical and unfortunately expensive travel case, costing $200, which doesn’t live up to its promise. The Apple Vision Pro Travel Case is both uniquely designed and heavily discounted.

Apple, as a manufacturer, is known for releasing high-quality accessories with polished design, so it’s easy to assume that the company also made an effort to create a travel case that would provide the best possible protection for the $3500 Apple Vision Pro computer. Unfortunately, the Apple case doesn’t fully meet expectations.

The notably large size of the external pillow-shaped case is one of the first aspects that catch the eye. While the Apple Vision Pro is a compact set compared to competing products like the PSVR 2, the case doesn’t take advantage of this feature. Although the case effectively stores the set in the office, facilitating transportation with secure compartments for components, it can be cumbersome to travel with.

In terms of design, the case is completely different from Apple’s previous products. The company has always been associated with slim, lightweight devices and minimalist packaging. It’s surprising, then, that the Travel Case is the exact opposite of this philosophy.

I only noticed the case after the pre-launch sale of the Apple Vision Pro started. Its fluffy surface reminded me of NASA astronauts’ suits from the 1960s. Some even suggested that the case could be used as a travel pillow, but this theory was quickly dismissed. It turned out that the case has a hard, thick structure, and the fabric surface is unusually thick.

The ripstop material used for the exterior of the case is intended to protect against tearing in harsh environmental conditions, which seems somewhat excessive for home or airport use. While the case is easy to carry with its handle, the lack of a shoulder strap is a major drawback.

The material itself appears unsuitable for a case that may be rolled under an airplane seat or held at the traveler’s feet on a bus. The light color of the case quickly gets dirty and stained, making it difficult to predict how quickly it will become unsightly, although our specimen is not yet damaged enough to judge.

The interior of the case is designed to securely hold the Apple Vision Pro unit without any looseness. It seems that the designers assumed users would insert the set along with the Solo Knit Band, so the case perfectly hugs it from the outside, but the Dual Loop Band can also remain attached.

Apple made sure that users wouldn’t have to do much to store or remove the Apple Vision Pro from the case. Nothing holds the set in place, and nothing needs to be removed.

The element that presses against the Light Seal and keeps the set in place can be adjusted for different sizes of the light seal. The detachable Velcro strap allows for adjusting this element.

The battery is attached to the top of the case with a Velcro strap and should be disconnected when storing the Apple Vision Pro to prevent complete discharge or overheating.

The case comes with an accessory pouch where you can store a cleaning cloth, charging cable, power adapter, additional band, and a visitation card without clutter. There is even room for a Magic Trackpad.

The dimensions of the Apple Vision Pro case are 22.3 cm in width, 16.5 cm in depth, and 29.7 cm in length. It weighs just over 1 kilogram.

There are few competitive options on the market. There are various models, ranging from inexpensive options originally intended for Meta Quest devices to custom-made designs by exclusive case manufacturers.

For example, the Waterfield Shield Case for Apple Vision Pro is one of the smallest cases available on the market, but it requires removing the bands to insert them. Its dimensions are 19.7 cm in width, 13.3 cm in depth, and 19 cm in length. It weighs 0.45 kg.

The Apple Vision Pro Travel Case is significantly larger in every aspect.

I refrain from commenting on cases from other companies, but it seems that the Apple case is truly huge. It offers plenty of space and makes storing and using the set faster and easier.

However, many people may be concerned that the case is larger than their everyday backpack. My Nomatic bag, which carries an iPad Pro, a Magic Keyboard cover, and various accessories, is smaller than the Apple Travel case, designed specifically for the Apple Vision Pro.

One can argue that for spatial computing, only a headset is needed to perform various tasks. However, the lack of space for a very important keyboard makes the large-sized case seem like a wasted opportunity.

Some people use a very small Bluetooth keyboard for the Apple Vision Pro, but typing comfortably with such a size is impossible for us. In my opinion, too much space is devoted to a case that itself is unwieldy. You always have to have an additional bag for the Apple Vision Pro case with you.

Traveling with the Apple Vision Pro Travel Case is difficult due to its large size. It’s hard to imagine it fitting in any backpack or carry-on luggage. Our small weekend suitcase would have to be mostly emptied of clothes to accommodate the case.

There’s little choice when it comes to alternatives. The only option is to carry the case by hand. The top strap can be attached to the handle of a rolling suitcase, but then the case may protrude inconveniently.

Carrying an open, exclusive bag filled with computer equipment worth over $4000 also seems impractical.
