Xreal prezentuje nowe okulary rozszerzonej rzeczywistości Air 2 Ultra

Xreal, a company specializing in augmented reality, has unveiled its latest additions to the Air line of glasses – Air 2 Ultra. Priced at $699, the Air 2 Ultra is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping in March. These glasses aim to compete with Meta’s Quest 3 and Apple’s Vision Pro by offering comprehensive tracking capabilities.

As an upgrade to the 2021 Air 2 model priced at $399, the Air 2 Ultra offers full positional tracking (6 degrees of freedom) in a modern sunglass-style design. Xreal advertises the Air 2 Ultra as a device for “spatial computing,” reminiscent of their previous mixed reality device – Light. These projection glasses display a virtual image in front of the user’s eyes while utilizing dual 3D cameras to map the surroundings and track hand movements. This allows developers to create applications that seamlessly blend physical and digital space, taking augmented reality experiences to a new level.

Compared to the previous model, the Air 2 Ultra offers a wide field of view of 52 degrees, brightness of 500 nits, and a 1080p resolution screen for each eye. It also boasts a more advanced refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Despite being slightly heavier at 80 grams, the Air 2 Ultra remains versatile and can be connected to various devices such as macOS and Windows computers, Samsung Android phones, and iPhone 15. Xreal’s Nebula AR environment is supported on Android, macOS, and Windows.

Initially targeted towards developers, Xreal plans to make the Air 2 Ultra available for purchase through its website, catering to global customers in the United States, United Kingdom, China, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. This announcement comes after Xreal has already delivered 350,000 pairs of AR glasses to the market. Additionally, the company plans to expand the availability of Air 2 to other countries by 2024.

With the introduction of full positional tracking, Xreal directly competes with Apple and Meta. Apple’s Vision Pro, set to release in February with a price tag of $3,499, will offer spatial experiences using flat projection screens. On the other hand, Meta’s Quest 3, released in October 2023 for $499, combines virtual and mixed reality applications. While both Apple and Meta utilize mixed reality projections, Xreal’s AR projection glasses provide a different experience. However, reports suggest that both Meta and Apple are also planning to introduce similar AR glasses in the future.

Please note that initially, the Air 2 Ultra glasses were presented exclusively for developers. However, Xreal has clarified that they will also be available for consumers through their website.
