Samsung Galaxy A15 5G: Nowy budżetowy smartfon, który różni się od Galaxy A14 5G

During the review of the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G in 2023, we were fans of it, but there were certain areas that needed improvement, from the disappointing IPS LCD display technology to the weak performance. On the other hand, this year’s Samsung Galaxy A15 5G seems to address some of these issues while also costing £10 less than its predecessor.

While we haven’t conducted a review of the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G yet, we have spent a lot of time with the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G. Here’s how these two models compare to help you decide which one suits your needs best.

The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G has an upgraded screen technology. In this aspect, the new Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is definitely a better choice. While the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G has a regular IPS LCD screen, the newer model features a better Super AMOLED screen.

Considering that the use of an LCD screen was one of the main drawbacks of the Galaxy A14 5G, Samsung has replaced it with newer technology in the latest model. The new model also has smaller bezels around the screen compared to its predecessor. This doesn’t have any functional significance but it means that the newer model looks more modern and slightly more premium.

However, in other areas, the screen experience is almost identical regardless of which one you choose. Both versions have the same 90Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution, although this time the Galaxy A15 5G is slightly smaller by 0.1 inch, measuring 6.5 inches. However, with such a negligible difference, you would likely not be able to notice a distinction between it and the larger 6.6-inch display of the Galaxy A14 5G during everyday use.

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G used the entry-level MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, which, as we mentioned in the review, performed adequately but slightly slower, as confirmed by benchmark tests compared to competing products in a similar price range.

It was paired with a rather unimpressive 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, though the latter could be expanded through a microSD card.

The new Galaxy A15 5G is not revolutionary in terms of computing power that would allow it to compete with more premium options, but it should perform slightly faster thanks to the more efficient MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset. Depending on the region you’re in, you may also have the option to get more RAM and internal storage, with options for 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

We haven’t conducted benchmark tests for the Galaxy A15 5G yet, but considering the upgraded processor, it wouldn’t be surprising if it outperforms its predecessor. We will certainly update this article when we have more certainty.

The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G has a slightly better camera. The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G continues to improve photo quality in the lower price range offered by the company, using the same 50MP main sensor as its predecessor, which impressed us during testing, especially considering the price. Additionally, it has a 2MP macro lens and an upgraded 5MP ultra-wide lens.

The latter replaces the useless 2-megapixel depth sensor present in the Galaxy A14 5G, meaning even its successor would struggle to compare to most competitors. Nonetheless, at least the new ultra-wide lens makes the Galaxy A15 5G slightly more versatile than its predecessor.

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is now even more affordable. Both the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A14 5G are budget smartphones. Specifically, the Galaxy A15 5G is priced at an attractive £199, meaning it is £20 cheaper than the Galaxy A14 5G from last year, which costs £219.

However, since the release of the newer Galaxy A15 5G model, the A14 5G has lowered its price even further, now sitting at £136 at the time of writing this article.

If the improved display technology, newer processor, and ultra-wide lens are not important to you, you could save a significant amount of money by choosing the older model.
