Instagram i Threads ograniczają rekomendacje treści politycznych

Meta announced on Friday that Instagram will no longer “actively recommend” political content from accounts that users do not follow on the platform.

In a blog post last week, the company shared that this new policy will also apply to their newer platform, Threads. This change comes as Meta wants users to have a “great experience” on these platforms.

“We don’t want to come between you and the posts from accounts you choose to follow that publish political content, but we also don’t want to actively recommend political content from accounts you don’t follow,” the post stated.

Both applications will now add a setting that allows users to decide whether they want to see recommendations for political content. However, by default, neither of these platforms will promote such content.

Regarding Meta’s flagship platform, Facebook, a similar control option will also be launched in the future.

The platforms define “political content” as posts that are “potentially related to law, elections, or social topics.”

“Our goal is to preserve the ability to choose interactions with political content while respecting each individual’s inclination towards such content,” wrote Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, in a post on Threads.

Meta’s move is not surprising, as the company has prioritized other types of content over political content on their social media platforms for some time. The Meta Transparency Center provides information on this.

“People have told us they want to see less political content, so in recent years, we’ve refined our approach on Facebook to reduce the amount of political content, including content from politicians, that you see in News Feed, Reels, Watch, Groups You Should Join, and Pages You May Like,” the post stated.

Users can check whether their content will be promoted in the Account Status tab in the app.
