Apple poza pozorem — Niedokończona krucjata przeciwko Rivos

Reuters – Apple plans to settle the ongoing legal case where the technological startup Rivos was accused of stealing trade secrets related to computer chip technology. In a joint statement filed in a federal court in California on Friday, the companies announced that they have “reached an agreement that potentially resolves the matter,” allowing Apple to review Rivos’ systems and recover confidential information.

Representatives from Apple and Rivos did not immediately respond to requests for comments and additional information regarding the settlement.

Apple sued the startup Rivos in 2022, claiming that the Mountain View-based company recruited dozens of its engineers and used confidential information to develop competitive “system-on-chip” (SoC) technology.

SoC refers to integrated circuits that contain multiple computer components on a single chip, including central processing units and graphics processing units. In the lawsuit, Apple asserted that it invested billions of dollars and over ten years of research into SoC projects that are “revolutionizing the world of personal and mobile computers.”

Rivos denied these allegations and argued that Apple “aimed to punish Rivos and any Apple employees who might want to work there ever since Apple learned about the promising startup.” Rivos counter-sued Apple in September of last year, alleging unfair competition.

Last month, Apple settled claims against six former employees who left the company to join Rivos.
