Nowe mocowanie mocy zegarowej Campagnolo Super Record wspinaczkowe w fazie prototypu

During today’s UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Tábor, Czech Republic, we noticed that the beautiful Colnago Ryana Kampa cross bikes were equipped with prototype power meter cranksets from their Italian sponsor.

While we were able to catch a glimpse of the bike through the trees this morning, we got a closer look at it with Kampa.

He is the only rider we noticed racing CX Worlds on Campagnolo gear. According to information from the team, this is the result of a close collaboration between Kampa’s team and Campy to improve their top-level Super Record Wireless groupset to withstand the demands of cyclocross racing.

Stay tuned and we will soon tell you more about this story.

In the meantime, this Campagnolo Super Record power meter crankset is something we have been waiting for since we first saw Campy’s patents in 2019.

However, at the moment the power measurement is NOT integrated with the carbon crankset. Instead, a steel spider similar to SRM is used, which Campy riders have been using for years.

This time, however, the crankset looks slightly different from SRM and has the Campagnolo logo clearly visible.

Adapted for Cyclocross

It appears to have the same chainring spacing and standard configuration as road cranks. However, professional cyclocross mechanics have positioned the chainrings about 3 mm closer to the bike’s centerline to better accommodate larger and easier cassettes, dealing with the slower speeds of cyclocross.

On the drive side of the crankset, there is one opening (similar to the old SRM), but on the other side, there is a second opening. It is not entirely clear why this opening exists, but on another Kaampa’s bike, there was a sticker cover, presumably to protect it from mud. In any case, it is known that the power meter crankset is made with hollow carbon on this prototype power meter.

Raises the Anchoring of the Carbon Power Meter

In the distance, you can see the thickness of the steel power meter attachment on the prototype Campagnolo Super Record crankset.

This particular crankset is mounted on Kampa’s training bike and shows more signs of use. Interestingly, it turns out that Ryan Kamp has been collaborating with Colnago and Campagnolo since the beginning of January, after the end of his previous sponsorship. So this bike is not yet too worn out and is not yet backed up by properly strong kicks.

Shimano XTR pedals are always a nice reminder to us that Campy does not produce pedals. But XTR pedals are so trusted and reliable that we often find them on the bikes of riders using SRAM groups as well.

For now, that’s all we have for official information. Campagnolo does not provide comments. But Kampa’s mechanic seems satisfied with the authentic R&D relationships and suggests that the entire Super Record Wireless groupset is constantly being improved to withstand the toughest conditions that cyclocross can throw at it!
