Passively Cooled Computers – An Innovative Solution for Enthusiasts

Passively cooled computers are a solution that is highly sought after by users. The ability to have a high-performance computer that produces no noise is incredibly attractive. Recently, a user on the Reddit platform, with the pseudonym Prestigious_Gate_615, surprised the community with their unconventional project.

Prestigious_Gate_615 constructed a computer using components such as the Ryzen 7 7700X processor, nVidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card, MSI B650I Edge WiFi motherboard, 64GB G.Skill Flare X5 RAM, 4TB Lexar NM790 SSD, and a 500W Seasonic Prime PX power supply. The entire setup was enclosed in a Streacom RZ4 chassis.

To cool such advanced components, Prestigious_Gate_615 used two large Noctua radiators (NH-P1) and numerous heat sinks. Additionally, to maintain stability, the user utilized appropriate cables and mounting elements that were 3D printed.

The choice of the RTX 4060 graphics card seems appropriate, considering its lower power requirement compared to other models in the RTX 40 series. Furthermore, both the graphics processor and CPU had to operate at modified settings. By reducing the GPU’s power consumption from 115W to 90W, temperatures were kept within the range of 80-85°C even under full load. The Ryzen 7 7700X processor, with eight cores, was set to ECO mode (88W), preventing the temperature from exceeding 95°C.

Prestigious_Gate_615 not only shared their experience and test results but also made available 3D models that can be useful to other enthusiasts in recreating a similar computer.
