Badania nad czterema chińskimi firmami związanymi z planowaną fabryką baterii Forda w Michigan

According to a letter addressed to the Biden administration, inquiries have been requested into four Chinese companies that are likely involved in Ford’s planned battery factory in Michigan. The demand was made by the chairpersons of two committees in the United States House of Representatives – Mike Gallagher, chair of the China Task Force, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers, chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Ford’s partnership with CATL, announced in February 2023, has faced criticism due to concerns about security and allegations of human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang region.

Last July, Mike Gallagher and Jason Smith, chair of the Ways and Means Committee, sent a letter to Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley, highlighting “disturbing” connections between CATL and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The letter also accused the proposed partnership of “providing well-paying jobs for citizens of the People’s Republic of China” instead of American citizens.

In September 2023, Ford announced the suspension of the development of its $3.5 billion factory in Marshall, Michigan. Congress members threatened to summon Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley, to testify before Congress.

The factory was planned as part of Ford’s partnership with CATL for the production of batteries for electric vehicles. However, due to the aforementioned controversies and concerns, Ford decided to temporarily halt work on the project.
