Nowy model Sony Xperia 1 VI zostanie wprowadzony na rynek w 2024 roku z nowym podejściem do fotografii

Last year, there were speculations that Sony would introduce the Xperia 1 VI model about a month after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. The latter was presented on January 17th, and now, as we approach the end of the month, it seems that Sony is preparing to unveil its latest generation of Xperia smartphones to the world. Leaked promotional materials allegedly from Sony reveal what the arrangement of the rear cameras on the phone will look like.

Based on a marketing leak published by the account “X” under the name @INSIDERSONY (via Notebookcheck.net), it appears that the three rear camera sensors used in the Xperia 1 VI will have a resolution of 48 MP. All three are Exmor T sensors for mobile devices with a dual-layer transistor pixel. Last year, the Xperia 1 V used a single 48 MP Exmor T sensor for the rear cameras, while the other two cameras were supported by 12 MP sensors.

The leak provides more details about each of the sensors used. One of the three Exmor T sensors for mobile devices has a size of 1/1.4 inch, a pixel size of 1.12 μm, an aperture of f/1.4, and allows for 2x optical zoom. Another Sony Exmor T sensor for mobile devices is designed for the wide-angle camera and has a size of 1/2.7 inch, a pixel size of 0.6 μm. It features Sony’s 2×2 On-Chip Lens (OCL) technology, which provides increased sensitivity, resolution, dynamic range, and speed. The third Exmor T sensor for mobile devices has the same size as the sensor used for the wide-angle camera but is a telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and a 6x zoom ratio.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is set to be unveiled on February 26th at the MWC 2024 in Barcelona, according to a second poster shared by @INSIDERSONY. If the information from Weibo, which we reported to you last month, is true, this year’s Xperia phones may be the last Sony devices under this brand. According to reports, Sony plans to abandon the Xperia name in 2025 and introduce a new design language for next year’s phones. Starting from scratch may be the best move for Sony, considering that the Xperia series has not gained popularity among smartphone buyers, resulting in a 0.35% market share in the global smartphone market.
